American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Prices are posted per item, by the dozen or by the pound, and most shops now take cards and mobile payment.

I had been in Chicago for five days, and before leaving, I made it a point to visit Dessert Dealer because the photos looked amazing. On my last day, I even took an Uber specifically to grab ice cream and a cookie to take back to my hotel and relax before heading home. Unfortunately, the customer service completely overshadowed what could have been a great experience. When I walked in, I politely said I wanted to place an order. Instead of being greeted, I was abruptly asked whether I was dining in. I explained that I wanted my order to go. Throughout the transaction, the employee was consistently rude and acted as though I was inconveniencing her. After receiving my ice cream, I asked if I could have a lid since it was a to go order. I was told, in a very dismissive tone, that they donโt have lids. I asked if they truly didnโt have lids for any to go orders, and the response was equally rude. I then asked for a bag, and it was placed on the counter without a word, as if even that request was too much. At that point, I genuinely wanted to ask for a manager and request a refund. The only reason I didnโt was because my Uber was waiting illegally outside, and I didnโt want to keep

OMG!!! WTH!!! All the acronyms! I can now say, "I know a guy" if anyone asks about a dessert dealer. ๐คฃ This was sooooo good. Already on my list to return. My niece was in town for a few days & my mission was to take her to a few decadent spots. We got the oreo cheesecake and a build-your-own tacolato (which was sooooo friggin' good). ๐๐คค There were 2 extremely happy women after visiting this establishment.

The Dubai matcha tacolato and it was delicious. It's in the same building as the pizza place which took us a second to find but definitely worth the visit.

A friend found this place in May and told me about it and I am sooooo thankful she did. I created my own with their graham cracker shell, vanilla bean Gelato, strawberry sauce, strawberries, raspberries and shortbread cookies and it was all around delightful! And that shell! I'm trying to figure out how to justify to go back tomorrow for the cookies 'n' cream one ๐ค

We visited Dessert Dealer as first time customers. I opted for a build my own Tacolata on a double chocolate shell, salted caramel ice cream, whopper, and Reeses Pieces. My husband built a Tacolata initially using the graham cracker shell, strawberry ice cream with bananas. At check out they verified allergies and he had to compromise for no shell due to an allergen to chocolate. The shell was white chocolate dipped. We were grateful they verified allergens. I was disappointed for him as he simply got a cup of strawberry ice cream with bananas and caramel. Bummer for his experience- allergies stink. We also ordered cookies. He tried the banana foster style cookie and I tried the peanut butter cookie. The cost was around $35. Overall, it was an okay "we tried it" experience but pricey.
